Lutfi delighted at team’s encouraging display

Football coach terms performance "the best since the 1970s".

LAHORE:

Pakistan football coach Tariq Lutfi labelled his side’s second-leg encounter against Malaysia for the Olympic qualifiers as one of the best matches that Pakistan has played since the 1970s. Pakistan drew with Malaysia 0-0 but the visitors qualified on aggregate.

“I am not comparing the team with that of the early 1970s but I think it was the best match we’ve played since those days,” said Lutfi while talking to The Express Tribune. “We went with a young side that executed its plans superbly while playing against a better team. It was only luck that denied us a win.”
