No tussle: FTO conducts seminar in Abbottabad
Says office resolves cases in 60 days
ABBOTABAD:
To provide speedy justice to aggrieved citizens, the Federal Tax Ombudsman’s (FTO) office is ensuring early disposal of cases for which the decision time was 60 days.
FTO Abdur Rauf Chaudhary said this on Wednesday while addressing participants at an awareness seminar, arranged by the Abbottabad FTO office.
He said that for the facility of taxpayers having complaints against tax collection authorities there were five regional offices of FTO functioning at the federal level and seven at the provincial level.
He said that based on merit and transparency while dispensing justice the FTO office had decided 1,500 to 2,000 cases a year.
About the case disposal and relief to taxpayers, the FTO claimed that those challenging the decisions of income tax, sales tax, federal excise duty and customs duties, filing complaints and appeal get due relief.
He said that for review on a decision, 30 days were fixed, while for the third complaint, 45 days was fixed and those of the complainant not satisfied with the decision of FTO could move the cell of President of Pakistan, who was also bound to decide the case within 90 days.
