Rain alert: Pindi monitoring Nullah Leh

WASA MD says 70% floodwater comes from Islamabad through four major Leh tributaries

A control room has been set up to monitor the water level in the Nullah Leh owing to the heavy downpour that has increased the water flow, Mayor Naseem Khan said on Wednesday.

“The control room will start blowing sirens if water reaches danger level,” he said talking to the media during his visit to low-lying areas around Nullah Leh to see the ground situation as rain continued to lash the city.

Naseem said the Met Office had forecast heavy rainfall during the current week and directions have been issued to Rescue 1122, WASA and Civil Defence to remain on alert to meet any situation.


WASA MD Raja Shaukat briefed the mayor about arrangements made for ongoing rain as desilting of Leh had been carried out. He said that more than 70 per cent of flood water comes from Islamabad catchments area through four major tributaries of Leh and 11 streams of the city also feed it.

The MD said that residents could contact by toll-free number 1334 or director sewerage on 0332 5123897 in case of any emergency.
