In her sleep: PTI woman councillor shot dead
FIR No328/17 was registered against the suspect who remains at large
LAHORE:
A 50-year-old councilor of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf was shot dead in her sleep on Saturday.
The victim, Shahida Perveen, had a domestic dispute with Gulzar, her brother in law. The children of the suspect were living with her. She registered a rape case against him, while he had filed a kidnapping complaint for the alleged abduction of his daughter. The suspect and the victim would often quarrel and scuffle.
On Saturday at around 4am, the victim was asleep in her house in Shahdara. The suspect allegedly barged into the house with four accomplices, including his son. They reportedly shot the victim in her sleep and took the daughter away. He also broke items in the house.
After hearing the gunshots, locals called the police who reached the spot and shifted the victim to the hospital. The woman was pronounced dead on arrival. Police then took the body to the morgue for an autopsy.
