Treacherous curves: Six killed as car plunges into ravine

Lone child survives crash near Chinari, where a landslide had taken place

MUZAFFARABAD:
Six members of the same family were killed when their car fell into a deep ravine near Chinari in Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) on Friday evening.

Jehlum Valley Deputy Commissioner Hameed Kiyani said that the family was travelling from Chakothi to Muzaffarabad. While crossing an area near Chinari, where a landslide had recently taken place, the car fell into a deep ravine, approximately 58 kilometers Muzaffarabad.

Locals and district administration rushed to the spot and pulled the bodies out from the wreckage.


The dead were identified as, Aniq Sadiq, Yasir Sadiq, Aurangzeb Shabir, Aroosa Yasir, Noreen Sadiq, Hanian Yasir. A child, who survived with minor injuries, was shifted to the Hattian Bala hospital for treatment.

The bodies, after completing formalities, were handed over to their relatives for burial in their ancestral graveyard in Chakothi.  This is the second such accident reported from this region within 24 hours.

Earlier on Thursday, three people were killed and 20 others were injured when their jeep met with an accident in Neeladandi area of Muzaffarabad.
