PESHAWAR:
The Peshawar High Court (PHC) on Thursday sought explanation from the Ministry of State and Frontier Regions’ (Safron) secretary as well as the Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P) chief secretary about businesses run by the Afghan refugees and sale and purchase of properties by them.

The explanation was sought on a petition filed by Advocate Khurshid Khan who requested the PHC bench to direct the federal government not to extend Afghan refugees stay and to order the K-P government to put a ban all businesses by them.
He contended that the refugees continued to be a burden on the Pakistan economy and had been using the country’s resources. “Most Afghan nationals hold fake documents, run big businesses here and own huge properties,” the counsel argued.
