March for Education: Ending the education emergency
Pakistan Education Task Force launches campaign to push education to the top of the political agenda.
The terrible state of education in Pakistan is no secret. Surveys, reports and articles have repeatedly drawn attention to the sorry state of education in this country which is nothing short of an emergency.
The Pakistan Education Task Force, a body set up in 2009 by the federal government to offer recommendations on how to implement education policies, in a recent report has stated that the education for all target stated in the Constitution of Pakistan will not be achieved during the lifetime of anyone alive today.
Drawing attention to the fact that three million Pakistani children will never see the inside of a classroom, the Pakistan Education Task Force has launched a March for Education campaign to "end the education emergency".
The campaign aims to make March the month that Pakistan talks about only two things: education and cricket. It aims to initiate a national debate to push education to the top of the political agenda.
The group encourages people to join the campaign and to sign their petition to show Pakistan's leaders that people really care about education.
