Premier League club Manchester United said on Wednesday that they are the first sports club in England to appoint a full-time counter-terrorism manager.

The position has been occupied by a former official from the Greater Manchester Police’s specialist search unit.

Spectators and vehicles will now be routinely checked as an added security measure at the Old Trafford on match days.
