Foggy spell likely to persist for a few days
SIALKOT:
Various areas in Punjab have been enveloped by a thick cloud of fog in the past few days, suspending traffic on various roads, including motorways, due to low visibility. The fog also increased the intensity of cold weather.
The dense Fog blanketed different areas of Punjab, including Multan, Bahawalpur and other cities disrupting flight and railways schedule.
A Met official said dense fog blanketed Multan, Sheikhupura, Okara, Sahiwal, Sialkot and Bahawalpur on Tuesday morning due to which the traffic flow in major cities was disrupted badly.
Due to low visibility, the Motorway section from Lahore to Sheikhupura was completely closed while traffic was also disrupted on National Highway.
The Motorway police have appealed the drivers to use GT Road for travelling from Lahore to Sheikhupura and switch on fog lights. The Motorway police also urged them to take precautionary measures while driving. They also requested people to stay home and avoid unnecessary travelling.
Meanwhile, the Met office predicted that foggy conditions would continue to prevail in the plains of Punjab for the next few days.
