Imran contesting case outside SC: minister
Marriyum Aurangzeb says not the prime minister but someone else is known for telling lies to the nation
ISLAMABAD:
Minister of State for Information Marriyum Aurangzeb said on Monday that PTI Chairman Imran Khan was contesting his case outside the court but he would get nothing except disappointment.
Talking to journalists along with MNA Talal Chaudhry after the Panama case hearing, Marriyum said that according to the arguments of the PML-N counsel, there was no contradiction in the prime minister's speech in parliament and his address to the nation. “Not the prime minister but someone else is known for telling lies to the nation,” she said.
She said Imran claimed there was contradiction in the prime minister's speech in parliament and his address to the nation but the court could not hand down a judgment on Imran's desire.
Marriyum said Imran was seeking disqualification of the prime minister without any proof, but this could not happen on his wishes as the prime minister has no link with the Panama Papers.
Today, Imran said they were playing videogames during the course of arguments by the prime minister's counsel, according to her. During the past three years, the PTI has been playing videogames and after the adjudication of the Panama case, they would definitely be playing videogames.
The minister said the PTI legal counsel has admitted in the court that Marriyam Nawaz was not a beneficiary of the prime minister.
Meanwhile, in a statement, the minister said Imran should keep in mind the honour of national institutions. “He speaks whatever comes in his mind without weighing it,” she added. “Imran’s statement that half the Supreme Court was sleeping is tantamount to contempt of court.”
Separately, Talal Chaudhry said the PML-N had not sought any immunity for the prime minister in the Supreme Court. “Immunity is not part of the PML-N stance regarding the Panama Papers issue,” he said and accused the PTI of negative politics.
