Four of a family found dead

Villagers allege deceased consumed toxic liquor

FAISALABAD: At least four members of a family were found dead in mysterious circumstances in Chak No 464 within Samundari police station precincts in Faisalabad on Monday. However, the villagers alleged the four died after consuming toxic liquor.

While speaking to The Express Tribune, Muhammad Jamil, a member of the ill-fated family said, the deceased arrived from Sheikhupura after participating in a marriage ceremony of their cousin Muhammad Mansha.

He added, “Guests Muhammad Zubair, Muhammad Waseem, Ahmad Ali and Muhammad Usman were sleeping in a room and when they went  to wake them up in the morning for breakfast, they found them dead.”

“We immediately shifted the bodies to the Tehsil Headquarter Civil Hospital where doctors told them that the victims had been dead for at least seven hours,” he maintained.

To a question, Jamil contended, “Someone has spread a rumour that they had drunk toxic liquor.”

Investigation initiated: Police smell something fishy

He claimed none of the family members and guests consumed liquor.

“The family members are upset over this incident and we still do not understand what happened to them and what is the cause of their deaths,” he said.
