Poisonous gases: Toxic sewage kills two brothers

BAHAWALPUR:
Two brothers died after inhaling toxic gases inside a sewer in Bahawalpur on Saturday.

A resident of Yazman’s Chak 113 named Nadeem Pehlwan wanted to dig a gutter line for his house and hired the two brothers, residents of Chak 117, police and rescuers said.


The victims named Ameer Baksh and Kala started digging the place but sewage from an adjoining gutter flowed into the pit dug by the labourers. The workers inhaled the deadly combination of toxic gases and water and fainted inside the sewer.

Kala, 28, died on the spot while his 26-year-old brother was shifted to the Ahmadpur East tehsil headquarters hospital. He could not survive and died at the hospital.
