National Accountability Bureau’s (NAB) Karachi branch has outperformed its six other regional bureaus in Sukkur, Lahore, Rawalpindi, Multan, Balochistan and Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa.

To commemorate this achievement, NAB deputy chairperson Imtiaz Tajwar visited NAB Karachi office on Friday and distributed cheques of one extra salary to all the officers and staff.

He congratulated NAB Karachi director-general Lt Col (retd) Sirajul Naeem for his professionalism and leadership by virtue of which NAB Karachi was able to earn the prestigious award of best performance by the President of Pakistan Mamnoon Hussain.

During his speech, Naeem said that NAB Sindh has transformed from an average performer to the best performer during his tenure at Karachi till date. For this, the credit goes to each and every NAB officer as well as member of staff, he said, adding that NAB Karachi has not only excelled but has also maintained its extraordinary performance.

During the year 2016, NAB Karachi has filed more than 100 references in accountability courts, led to 131 arrests, completed 142 inquires, disposed of 6,865 complaints and recovered Rs1.1 billion by way of direct recoveries, which are in the process of being disbursed to various government departments, shared Naeem.

Through NAB’s intervention, Rs915 million were indirectly recovered for various departments, including the recovery of Rs306 million from Hyderabad Electric Supply Corporation’s defaulters.

Today, NAB is marking a historical day as it introduced ‘Partly Quantified Grading System’, a competitive point-based evaluation system for performance appraisals, said Tajwar. This method measures the quality and quantity of investigations done by NAB officers using international standards and scientific lines, he pointed out.
