Suicide bomber kills 9, injures 20 in Baghdad
BAGHDAD:
Nine people were killed and 20 wounded in a car explosion in the Sadr City slum in eastern Baghdad on Wednesday.
Police said insurgents first killed the shop owner in front of his store in a popular market area in the Shula district of north western Baghdad and then detonated a bomb at the door of the shop when people crowded around the body.
Police and hospital officials say the blast took place near a popular cafe where young people were gathered. The casualty information was given by a Sadr City police officer and an official at the Imam Ali hospital where the wounded were taken.
