Differently abled persons have urged the provincial government to increase their job quota from two to five per cent and provide them with medical facilities and a monthly stipend.
Addressing a press conference, Arifullah, a physically challenged person, said that the incumbent provincial government had failed to address the issues of the community.
He demanded an increase in the existing quota from two to five per cent, besides a provision of Rs10,000 as monthly stipend and free health facility.
He accused the provincial social welfare department of nepotism and called for a unified policy to hire differently abled persons. Arifullah asked the government to take practical initiatives for addressing problems being faced by special persons.
Arifullah claimed that attention was not being paid to differently abled persons and no special arrangements were being made for them at hospitals, parks, markets, schools and public transport.
He added that several people with disability had invented useful things and led the world. He said that it was the collective responsibility of society and the country to give special attention to people with disabilities.
