Corruption as dangerous as terrorism: Rajwana

Says politicians should follow national agenda instead of their personal or party interests

MULTAN: Punjab Governor Malik Rafique Rajwana said corruption is by no means less harmful or dangerous than terrorism and the whole nation should unite to defeat it.

He expressed these views during a meeting with the newly-elected Mayor Chauhdry Naveed-ul-Haq Araiyin, Deputy Mayor Munawwar Ahsaan, MPA Ahsan Uddin Qureshi and other officials at circuit house Multan.

He directed the newly-elected representatives of the local government to observe merit and serve the masses impartially.

“Your first priority should be to solve the problems of the people and to provide them with basic facilities of life,” he said.

The governor said that corruption has become a shameful menace in the country and was destroying the country.



“Corruption is by no means less harmful or dangerous than terrorism and the whole nation should unite to defeat it,” he remarked.

Governor Rafique Rajwana termed elimination of corruption a Jihad. He also stressed that politicians should follow national agenda instead of their personal or party interests. He said that NAB’s performance was good but there is always a room for improvement. “There is a dire need for resolution of common man’s issues with respect and dignity to all.”

He said that the government has been working on several energy projects and saved billions of rupees to the national exchequer.

Rajwana commented that Islam discouraged corruption and there is strict punishment on taking or giving bribe. “People should remember the teachings of Islam on corruption,” he remarked.

While addressing a meeting at the Circuit House to review development projects in Multan, the governor warned and ordered the Multan Development Authority officials to timely complete all the development projects.

He said that a mega sewerage project was in progress in the city, which he claimed would solve major public complaints and problems. He ordered the officials to strictly follow residential colonies bylaws and improve the performance of MDA.
