LAHORE:
The Lahore High Court decided 57,784 cases in the past six months during the tenure of Chief Justice Syed Mansoor Ali Shah.

On June 28, 2016, the total number of cases pending at the high court was 153,068, which reduced to 140,837 till December 28, 2016, according to LHC Registrar Syed Khursheed Anwer Rizvi. Cases pending in the lower judiciary also reduced from 1.3 million in June 2016 to 1.23 million on November 30 last year.

Meanwhile, the LHC media office clarified on Friday the chief justice did not comment on the role of Chief Justice of Pakistan or the Supreme Court in the internal case management plan, which has been prepared by the LHC itself for the expeditious disposal of cases to address the grievance of litigants.

The news published regarding assessment of judges of the high court on the basis of their performance and making classification thereof was also termed incorrect.
