Corruption charges: BIEK exams controller granted protective bail
Accused men argued that they were implicated in false inquiries and that they had no role in the the alleged offence

Board of Intermediate Education Karachi’s (BIEK) examinations controller Imran Chishti, along with three other co-accused obtained on Friday protective bail before arrest for one week to avoid their arrest in connection with inquiries into the misuse of official powers and corruption.
A single-bench of the Sindh High Court, headed by Justice Abdul Maalik Gaddi directed them to furnish a surety of Rs50,000 each.
The accused, including Chishti, Athar Saeed, Muhammad Irfan and Muzaffar Ali, had approached the court in connection with a case filed by the Sindh Enquiries and Anti-Corruption Establishment.
The accused men argued that they were implicated in false inquiries and that they had no role in the commission of the alleged offence. Apprehending their arrest in the case, the petitioners pleaded for protective bail to enable them to join inquiries or surrender before the trial.
