Interior minister says Pakistan’s viewpoint needs to be understood in right context

A three-member delegation of British and European Union (EU) parliaments called on Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan on Friday and discussed matters of mutual interest besides the longstanding Kashmir dispute.
The delegation included Lord Nazir Ahmed, Lord Qurban Hussain and member European parliament Afzal Khan. During the meeting, the participants discussed bilateral relations, continuing cooperation between Pakistan and Britain, parliamentary affairs and situation in the region including Kashmir.

Nisar said it was appreciable that issues related to Islamic world and Kashmir were being raised in the British parliament. “Pakistan has given countless sacrifices for safeguarding of regional and world peace but still certain elements are criticising Pakistan while completely ignoring historical and ground realities,” the minister said.
The interior minister said international community should not only listen to the viewpoint of Pakistan but also understand it in the right context. “Britain is one of the few countries where Pakistan’s viewpoint is heard and understood to a large extent.”
The support of British government in efforts to establish regional peace and strengthen institutions was appreciable, he added.
