Emphatic Danish clinches squash title

Pakistan’s Danish Atlas defeated Baderal Hussaini of Kuwait 3-0 to win the singles title.

Pakistan’s Danish Atlas defeated Baderal Hussaini of Kuwait 3-0 to win the singles title at the Norooz Squash International 2011 held in Tehran, Iran.



Third-seeded Atlas, who also won the Men’s Kish Persian Gulf Cup 2011 and the Men’s Fajr International 2011 recently, won the first set 11-6 and while he faced resistance in the second set, the Pakistani still managed to win 11-8 before sealing the victory to win the $6,000 event. Earlier, Atlas had created a major upset in the tournament when he defeated the top-seed Mazen Gamal of Egypt 3-1.

“I feel great after defeating Gamal,” Atlas told The Express Tribune. “It’s amazing that I have been able to win all the three tournaments here in Iran. It’s been a great season.”
