JHELUM:
A civil judge in Jhelum on Thursday sent two suspects involved in the murder of a German woman of Pakistani origin to two weeks judicial remand.

Dr Uzma Khan was allegedly shot dead by her husband, Shahbaz Khan with the help of his friend Malik Naveed in the last week of December. Police had arrested both suspects, recovered the murder weapon and recorded the statements of the suspects and family members of the victim.

Officials had also collected forensic evidence from the crime scene and now only the submission of the charge sheet is awaited, police officials said.

After the completion of six-day physical remand – granted on Saturday - of suspects, police presented them before a civil judge.

The judge sent Shahbaz and Naveed to the Jhelum district jail on judicial remand for 14 days.

It is worth mentioning that Uzma, a doctor by profession, was settled in Germany. She had come to Pakistan with her husband and two children in mid-December.

The couple were reportedly having a dispute over a joint account, which the doctor wanted separated.

The victim, according to police, was invited by her husband to a friend’s home to resolve the issue. However, during a heated argument she was shot dead by a pistol belonging to Naveed.
