Beautification campaign: Empress Bridge decorated with LED lights

Project was completed at a cost of Rs1.8 million

BAHAWALPUR: The dual line historic Empress Bridge on Sutlej River in Bahawalpur was decorated with modern automatic LED lights providing a beautiful view to the passengers travelling through the train.

The inauguration ceremony was held at Highway Rest House near Sutlej Toll Plaza on December 31, 2016 in which Federal Minister Engineer Baleegur Rehman, Provincial Minister Iqbal Channar, Commissioner Saqib Zafar, Bahawalpur DCO Dr Ehtesham Anwar, Development Director Imrana Ajmal and others were present.

On the occasion, Project Engineer Waqas Abdullah said, “The LED lights which have been installed on the bridge are water proof and they will be controlled through an automatic operation.” He added, “The lights will turn off during the day and turn on at night automatically.”

Waqas maintained the project was completed with a cost of Rs1.8 million. He pointed out that the project had been completed due to the efforts of Commissioner Saqib Zafar.

He said the commissioner wanted to make Bahawalpur City beautiful and for the purpose, he worked tirelessly and completed this project in just 14 days.

He said if the government cooperates with him and provide funds, the commissioner had agreed to work on other historical locations and make them look even more beautiful.
