KARACHI: At least 20 people, including women and children, were injured when the roof of a house collapsed during a birthday celebration in Chanesar Goth, Mehmoodabad, Sunday night.
"The roof collapse incident left 20 persons injured," confirmed an Edhi official, adding that the injured were shifted to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC) for treatment.
Six children and four women were among the injured people who were brought to the hospital, said a JPMC medico-legal officer, adding that the injured people belonged to the Hindu community.
The birthday party of the owner's child was taking place when the roof suddenly collapsed, said SHO Anwar Shaikh, adding that the structure of the roof was weak.
