PESHAWAR:
The PML-N government will hear the concerns of its allies regarding the Fata reforms, but will not compromise on its implementation, said Advisor to the Prime Minister Amir Muqam.

While talking to reporters at his residence, the adviser said, “We will address the demands of the Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam Fazl (JUI-F) chief Maulana Fazl-ur-Rehman but will not compromise on the implementation of the reforms.”

Muqam stated that the Fata reforms committee had visited every nook and cranny of Fata to consult with the tribesmen before publishing its report. He said, “If these reforms are not implemented then the tribesmen will never forgive us.”

The adviser also spoke about the allegations made by Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chief Imran Khan regarding the Election Commission of Pakistan. Muqam said that the ECP should take notice of Imran’s allegations. The PTI chief had alleged that the PML-N had started planting its men in the ECP to rig the 2018 general elections.

Muqam said, “If Imran has any proof then he should present it, but if there is nothing then serious action should be taken by the ECP against Imran.”

While talking about the recent developments, Muqam stated that Asif Ali Zardari should refrain from street agitation. He was responding to the PPP’s announcement for a long march against the government. He gave the example of the PTI to the PPP, saying, “he [Zardari] must see PTI’s failed street protest.”  Regarding the Jamat-e-Islami he said that JI should first investigate the Bank of Khyber case and then talk about the Panama Leaks.

Talking about 2016, he said that the year saw a smooth transition of the military leadership and the Supreme Court chief justice. He added that the year also saw reduction in terror attacks.

On this occasion, Muqam also announced a social media team for PML-N’s Malakand division. He added that the social media was an important tool and all PML-N teams are being looked after by Maryam Nawaz.
