Busted: Year’s first FIR registered against bike thieves  

Police arrested the two suspects and found 12 stolen motorcycles

LAHORE: The first FIR of the year in Lahore was registered at Islampura police station against a gang of motorcycle lifters arrested on Sunday.

An assistant sub-inspector in his complaint alleged two suspects Abu Huraira and Kashif were involved in stealing motorcycles and were involved in several other bids of stealing motorcycles in different cities of the province.

Police arrested the two suspects and found 12 stolen motorcycles, 10 mobile phones and illegal weapons with them. A case (01/17) was registered under Section 401 of the Pakistan Penal Code (punishment for belonging to gang of thieves).

In the last three years 2014, 2015 and 2016, as many as 20,724 citizens were deprived of their motorcycles. About 19,148 motorcycles were lifted while 1,576 were snatched. In 2014, 7,354 citizens were deprived of their motorcycles, in 2015, 6,912 and in 2016, 6,458 citizens lost their motorcycles.

In 2014, 6,763 motorcycles were lifted and 591 were snatched, in 2015, 6,455 motorcycles were lifted and 457 snatched and in 2016, 5,930 motorcycles were lifted while 528 were snatched.
