RAWALPINDI:
About 1.8 million saplings will be planted in Rawalpindi as part of the spring tree plantation campaign for 2017. According to officials, authorities plan to launch a public campaign to engage civil society, students, and government departments to plant saplings across the city. They said a comprehensive plan for tree plantation has been evolved to expand forest cover in and around the city. According to officials green cover was necessary to overcome environmental degradation. Illegal logging and development on the outskirts of the garrison city have seen foliage shrink alarmingly.
