Unsatisfactory performance: Four CDA officials suspended

Premier demands improvement in CDA’s services

ISLAMABAD: The Minister of State for Capital Administration & Development Division (CADD) Dr Tariq Fazal Chaudhry Saturday suspended four officers of the Capital Development Authority (CDA) over unsatisfactory municipal and allied services.

According to the notification, member engineering Shahid Sohail, E&M director general Sohail Anjum, E/M Asif Jah and deputy director street lights Irfan Khokhar.

These CDA officers were directed to improve street lighting system, particularly along smaller roads within the sectors.

The suspensions came days after the CADD minister had visited CDA to convey Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif’s displeasure and concerns over the unsatisfactory performance in the municipal and allied services provided by CDA.

In a letter issued from the PM’s office on December 26, Nawaz had also expressed displeasure over the sorry state of footpaths and roads, particularly in smaller streets within the sectors and lack of cleanliness along the streams flowing through the city, water pollution, broken and worn down state of public parks, particularly in outer sectors and suburbs of the city.

The premier had also pointed towards mushrooming encroachments in markets and along roads which disturbed traffic flow. The

Nawaz had also expressed his displeasure over the lack of any horticulture activity on a reasonable scale in the city in addition to incomplete and at times misleading, road signs.

The prime minister had directed CDA to take immediate measures to improve its working and service delivery.

Nawaz had further directed CDA Chairman Sheikh Anser Aziz to give a detailed presentation regarding action plans to address these issues immediately after January 5.
