Recovered cash: Rangers allowed to deposit amount

It should be deposited with the government’s treasury office on trust

KARACHI:
The anti-terrorism courts’ administrative judge approved on Thursday an application moved by the Rangers to deposit a large amount that was recovered during a raid at the house of a suspected insurgent with the treasury office. The paramilitary force, through the investigation officer of the case, told the judge that over Rs17 million in cash were seized from the house of Majid Sakhidad, who is said to be a member of the Baloch Liberation Army, in Old Golimar area on December 23. The applicant contended that since the amount was not in safe custody, it should be deposited with the government’s treasury office on trust and may be recalled whenever required during the case proceedings.
