SIALKOT:
Sialkot Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI) President Majid Raza Bhutta said on Wednesday that Sialkot’s exporters had been playing a crucial role in strengthening the national economy by earning foreign exchange to the tune of $2 billion a year.

Talking to the media, he said that national economic and political stability is vital for flourishing national exports, adding that political uncertainty was the major reason behind the visible decline in national exports during the last few years.

Bhutta urged the government to announce a special package of trade and export-related incentives for Sialkot exporters from Export Development Fund (EDF) through Trade Development Authority of Pakistan (TDAP). He said direly needed incentives would help Sialkot’s export-oriented industries as well.

According to Bhutta, the government should also encourage Sialkot exporters at every level.

He asked the government to also give financial relief to Sialkot exporters in shape of releasing their all prolonged pending cases of duty drawback and refunds claims (worth millions of rupees).

The SCCI president said that Sialkot exporters were ‘roaming ambassadors’ which had been playing their vital role in strengthening national economy through exports.
