The Higher Education Commission (HEC) Pakistan is striving hard to cater to the needs of the highly qualified faculty members for the universities to be set up in each district by the year 2020. This was said by HEC Chairman Professor Dr Mukhtar Ahmad while addressing a function in Government College University for Women (GCUW) on Wednesday. He said the present as well as the coming era will be of knowledge based economy and the government was concentrating on the promotion of education at the highest level. However, due to the socio-cultural values, women remain deprived of educational facilities despite their extra ordinary performance in all segments of life. He also urged upon the faculty members to improve their qualification. “They should not only impart best education to their students but also play their role for their character building,” he added. On the occasion, he distributed HEC scholarships worth Rs2.5 million among the talented students.
