Puri - who rose to fame in 1980s found his dedicated audience in Bollywood's commercial and parallel cinema alike. He played several memorable roles with his last most significant project being the Pakistani film Actor in Law.

His untimely demise is a big blow for the global entertainment industry. The actor was a strong proponent of India-Pakistan friendship and a bevy of local celebrities took to social media to pay their final respects to the late actor.
