RAWALPINDI:
Unidentified men killed a watchman at steel warehouse by strangulating him with his own belt at City Saddar Road in the limits of Ganjmandi Police Station on Tuesday.

Police found the body of the 26-year-old Samir Raees, hailing from Arjun Nagar, in the warehouse and moved it to District Headquarters (DHQ) Hospital for post-mortem.

A murder case was lodged against unidentified men. Ganjmandi SHO Chaudhry Ilyas Gujar said Raees worked as a watchman at Ijaz Steel on City Saddar Road and lived in a room on the roof of the warehouse.

“The motive behind the murder is unknown,” he said. He said that police recovered the body after being informed by relatives of the warehouse’s owner. Doctors handed over the dead body to the heirs after carrying out a post-mortem.

In another case, Cantonment SHO Javed Khan led a raid on a store in Kabari Bazaar and held the owner on charges of making and selling fake military and law enforcement agencies’ uniforms.

The police also seized 650 shirts, 1,100 trousers, and 800 metres of unstitched cloth from the shop. The arrested shop owner was identified as Ibrahim, against whom a case was also registered under the Maintenance of Public Order law.

SHO Khan said the contractor was involved in stitching and selling the uniforms without any license or valid permits from the authorities. The accused would now be produced before a court of law, the SHO added.
