KARACHI:

The Sindh High Court (SHC) on Monday granted protective bail to the top official of a business conglomerate accused by the paramilitary Rangers of hiding illicit weapons and explosives in his offices.

An SHC division bench asked to submit a surety of Rs500,000 as a guarantee on his bail in the relevant trial court within four days.

Two FIRs were filed under section 23(1)a of the Sindh Arms Act and section 4 & 5 of the Explosives Substances Act, read with section 7 of the Anti-Terrorism Act registered at Saddar and Kharadar police station.

In his application, he told the bench that the allegations levelled against him were baseless. He said he was falsely implicated in the case and requested the court to grant him protective bail. He contended that he was ready to face charges in the court but apprehended that he might be arrested.
