SHABQADAR:
A community model school and a tribal elder's house were left severely damaged on Wednesday evening when twin blasts rocked Michni in lower Mohmand Agency.

An official of the political administration confirmed the incidents. Miscreants had targeted Akbar Ali School and tribal elder Kala Khan's house, he said.

The school attack left the principal's office completely destroyed. The second explosion left the walls of the tribal elder's house damaged. No loss of life was reported.

Later on Thursday, the official summoned a jirga at Michni rest house and emphasised the need to maintain peace in the area.

In a similar incident on December 11, a van belonging to security forces was targeted near the same area. Last week, the house Akbar Sher, a local village nazim was attacked by unidentified men in Michni on the main Peshawar-Warsak Road.

New government school blown up in South Waziristan

In November, saboteurs blew up a primary school for boys in Mohmand Agency with an improvised explosive device. The blast ripped through the school building and destroyed its two rooms and verandah. Over 120 public schools have been blown up by miscreants in the vicinity.
