Plea against nisar: LHC seeks govt’s explanation
The plaintiff requested the court to order the interior minister’s removal
LAHORE:
The Lahore High Court has sought comments from the federal government on a petition against Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan for criticising the Quetta blast commission report and scandalising the judiciary. The petitioner, Abdullah, has submitted that Chaudhry Nisar being the interior minister first disclosed the Quetta report and then continuously targeted the judiciary. He alleged the respondent had failed to enforce the National Action Plan against terrorism in letter and spirit. The plaintiff requested the court to order the interior minister’s removal and initiate contempt proceedings against him. After hearing the initial arguments, Justice Shahid Karim put the federal government on notice for explaining its position.
