Blame game: Legal battle begins for child’s custody
Court seeks report from Sherakot SHO by December 22
LAHORE:
A woman has approached the district and sessions court, seeking recovery of her minor son whom she had handed over to a woman a year ago when she did not have money to feed him.
Talking to The Express Tribune Muhammad Ibrar, the father of 18-month-old child Muhammad, said he and his family for the first time came to know about Naseem Bibi, who claimed the child was her biological son.
Ibrar said a few days ago he received a notice at his house, in which Naseem claimed she had given them her child when she was living hand to mouth but now she wanted to take her child back.
Petitioner Naseem implored that Muhammad was her biological son, whom she had given to a woman Sughran Bibi when she did not have money to feed him due to poverty.
She contended that Sughran adopted her son on the condition that she will return him to her when she will have money to take care of him. Naseem implored that she was demanding her son back but the accused was not willing to return her child.
Later, she approached police and registered an FIR against Sughran and her husband Ibrar for not returning her son. The court has sought report from SHO Sherakot by December 22.
“My lawyer says this stamp paper has no legal value as it had not been verified by anyone. We are taking these documents to the court as we do not know who had dropped them at our doorstep,” said Ibrar.
He added that a man identified as Abid was making phone calls to his relatives, telling them Ibrar was not returning the child to his biological mother Naseem. He said he would file a case against Abid and Naseem who were pretending to be the parents of the child .
