Tarnol dragnet: 20 Afghans among 210 suspects hauled in

Detained people shifted to respective precincts for questioning

ISLAMABAD:
Islamabad police, Rangers and personnel of security agencies rounded up 210 people including 20 Afghan nationals during search operations in various areas of the city.

In the dragnet operation, the law enforcers also recovered arms, ammunition, drugs, liquor and stolen vehicles during the raids, a spokesman to the police department said.

The door-to-door search and combing operation was carried out in Ittefaq Colony and other areas of Tarnol.

Suspects detained during checking were hauled away to respective police stations.

SSP Operations Sajid Kiani has said that purpose of this search operation is to ensure high vigilance in the city and every effort will be made to ensure protection to the lives and property of citizens. He also appealed the citizens to remain vigilant and inform police in case of any suspicious activity around them.

Two car thieves held

The Anti-Car Lifting Cell (ACLC) arrested two suspected car lifters and recovered a stolen car from them.

The suspects were identified as Waheedullah and Raz Muhammad, both residents of Peshawar. On November 27, a Toyota Corolla (AB-9984) was stolen from outside a house in Sector I-10/1.


Sabzi Mandi police registered an auto-theft case and handed over the case to ACLC, which succeeded in tracking down and arresting the suspects.

Rawalpindi roundup

Police in Rawalpindi registered 19 cases against sound system, security ordinances and wall-chalking violations.



According to a statement issued by the police, Muhammad Imran, Mukamal Shah, Ghulab Sher and Babar Ali were booked by the Taxila police allegedly for violating Punjab Sound System Ordinance.

Separately, Saddar Wah police booked Rafaqat, Malik Sajid, Azhar Hameed, Syed Hussain Naqvi, Muhammad Ijaz, Mazhar Javed Bhatti, Habibur Rehman and Arif for wall chalking.

Meanwhile, Gunjmandi police registered a case against administration of Gilgit Hotel, RA Bazar police lodged FIRs against owners of Madi Fine Store, Service Shoes, Utility Store and Ali Jewellers, while Airport police booked owners of Shama Jewellers and Rehman Mobile Shop as they did not make proper security arrangements for their shops and violated the security ordinance.
