PIA to officially resume ATR flights today
Airline announces schedule of flights which will be resumed
Pakistan International Airlines on Monday said it will operate six ATR flights today.
These flights include PK-605 (Islamabad-Gilgit), PK-606 (Gilgit-Islamabad), PK-249 (Islamabad-Kabul), PK-250 (Kabul-Islamabad), PK-681 (Islamabad-Multan) and PK-682 (Multan-Islamabad), the airline said.
Flights to northern areas remain suspended
On Sunday, PIA operated Gilgit and Chitral flights on C-130. These included PK-605 (Islamabad-Gilgit), PK-606 (Gilgit-Islamabad), PK-660 (Islamabad-Chitral) and PK-661 (Chitral-Islamabad).
Later in the evening, after clearance of one ATR following a shakedown test, PK-681 (Islamabad-Multan) and PK-682 (Multan-Islamabad) were operated on ATR aircraft.
Earlier this week, the CAA had grounded all 10 ATR aircraft of PIA, following PK-661’s fatal crash near Havelian on December 7. However, the airline’s spokesperson on Thursday said one ATR-42 aircraft had been cleared after passing the ‘shakedown test’ and that flights to Gilgit would resume.
