National Issues: Formation of parliamentary committee demanded

He said the PPP had passed the bill from Punjab Assembly and Senate in collaboration with other parties

MULTAN:
Former prime minister Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani has demanded a parliamentary accountability committee to look into issues such as the National Action Plan, China-Pakistan Economic Corridor and the National Assembly’s ratification on the Panama Leaks Bill.

While addressing lawyers at the Multan District Bar in connection with lawyers’ movement for Seraiki province, he said people should elect representatives for playing their role in passing the Seraiki Province Bill from the National Assembly.

He said the PPP had passed the bill from Punjab Assembly and Senate in collaboration with other parties. However, it was still awaiting approval from the National Assembly with a two-thirds majority.

He said he was the first prime minister and Asif Ali Zardari was the first president of Pakistan who formally demanded the creation of a Seraiki Province in the National Assembly.
