HYDERABAD:
A fire, which broke out in an oil tanker after an accident on the Super Highway, claimed three lives, leaving around a dozen others, including policemen, injured. The incident occurred near Nooriabad, Jamshoro on Saturday.

According to the police, the fire erupted in the oil tanker after it overturned on the highway. The blaze engulfed a police mobile, pick-up van and motorcycle.

One of the deceased was identified as Zubair Palari, 14, while the identities of the other two deceased persons could not be ascertained.


Meanwhile, Khuda Dini Palari, a 60-year-old woman who was travelling in the pick-up, is missing.

ASI Allah Rakhyo Mallah, police constable Mumtaz Lodho, Usman Ali, Sardar Ali, Islamuddin Rao, Hidayatullah, Zubair Ahmed and Mashooq Ali were among the injured, some of whom were shifted to Karachi.

The Super Highway, which connects Karachi with Hyderabad and through the latter with the up-country via the National Highway and Indus Highway, is undergoing an upgrade from a two-lane highway to a three-lane motorway. The construction work on the 132-kilometre-long road started in 2015 and is likely to be completed either by the end of 2017 or early 2018.
