ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister of Privatisation Syed Naveed Qamar and Tajikistan Minister of Energy Gul Sherali have signed a protocol at the fourth session of the Pakistan-Tajikistan Joint Ministerial Commission (JMC) in Tajikistan.

The protocol provides information on bilateral cooperation in various fields such as agriculture, education and energy, said a statement issued on Wednesday.

At the JMC session, the ministers reviewed bilateral relations, identified areas of cooperation and suggested ways to strengthen bilateral cooperation. They emphasised the need of an early implementation of the CASA-1000 electricity supply project and expressed their commitment to mutually beneficial cooperation in economy, energy, trade and infrastructure.

Qamar said that despite the recent floods, the global financial crisis and Pakistan’s contribution to the war on terror, the country had shown that it had a resilient economy as foreign reserves had crossed $17 billion.

Appreciating a three-time increase in bilateral trade over the last year, Qamar noted that trade between the two sides at $21 million was still below the potential. He believed that bilateral trade should be increased to benefit people in both countries.

Sunatullah | 13 years ago | Reply Good bilateral development between two countries after 20 years of independency of post-Soviet Central Asia, but it should exceed the word level and move into the practice. Such regional cooperation in this very 'problematic' zone is dramatically important for the people just to survive! Why it is 'problematic zone' it is because of different ideologies and poltical orientations were and are imposing to the people from different powerful countries, and mainly from outside. But originally people in Tajikistan/Uzbekistan are very close to the people in Indian supcontinent(historically, culturally, economically, spiritally etc.), sharing the same pre-Islamic, Islamic Farcified cultures originated in Bukhara and Samarqand!) and now they should definitely cooperate more and more in order not to be marginalized by world powers as the situation is today. Regarding this i want to ask Pakistanis: can they get rit of fundamentalistic ideology and worldview comming from Saudies (serving their superiority among other Muslims!) and supporting by some invisible superpowers politically and military? Your should know that it is the big treat for all Central Asians and Russia, it creates many obstracles for us in our everday lives. Our cooperation should go into the very natural human level: trade, culture, education, science, technology, but not importantly involving ideology...We really get tired of any kind of ideology. We have big respect to Islamic heritage, but at the some time majority of us are secularists, our worldveiw is more broader, universalistic, not nerrow religious, confessionalist and we are not going to change it moving to our past. We want to move further, not going to stay in one single station...As you well know the contemporary world should be based on pluralistic approachers, respecting all others, but not just yourselvers, your cultures etc. WE have to accept this truth. Othervise we can not again servive in this glogalised world...Wish all of you the best, Regards, Sunatullah Jonbobo (SJ).
