PCJCCI discusses IT sector’s potential with Chinese team

Meeting held to inform stakeholders of opportunities in IT industry

LAHORE: Pakistan-China Joint Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PCJCCI) is thriving to invigorate a revolutionary phase of information technology with the collaboration of China under the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor, said PCJCCI President Wang Zihai in a meeting with a three-member Chinese delegation from BODA software solutions, Sichuan, China.

The delegation, which was led by Qiu Ziynn, visited with the purpose to enhance bilateral cooperation and trade between the IT sectors of the two countries. The visit to Pakistan was in line with the Chinese government’s push towards enhancing trade ties with neighbourly countries particularly Pakistan.

The main aim of the IT delegation was to inform the relevant Chinese stakeholders about the opportunities available in Pakistan’s IT industry, to solicit Chinese interest in outsourcing IT work to Pakistani companies and to partner with Pakistani companies for extending footprint of Chinese IT companies.



Zihai informed the delegation regarding Pakistan’s IT and software industry. The Chinese were intrigued to know that Pakistan has over 2,000 IT companies developing high-end enterprise grade software solutions for the world’s largest and premier companies and that Pakistani IT companies regularly win awards at international IT events. Wang stressed that to enhance the importance of China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) the two countries have to step forward in agreement to develop an e-corridor for greater connectivity.

The head of delegation, Qiu Ziynn, said that expanding the cooperation to science and information technology will boost the bilateral trade and economic ties in a more modern and digital way.

PCJCCI Secretary General M Salahuddin Hanif informed the delegates about the concerted efforts of the Pakistani government for the development of the IT industry. He said that the IT & Telecom ministry is already collaborating for the development of an ‘e-commerce gateway framework’.

He also informed that Pakistan’s mobile app, gaming, and animation development industry is fast progressing. Export of mobile phone apps is fetching $10 million to the country every month while the yearly exports have now exceeded $2 billion, mentioned Salahuddin.
