It's that time of year again, when the days are shorter, the weather has chilled and winter has arrived. Snow-capped mountains, frozen lakes and frosted flowers make for some of the most beautiful scenes of winter around the world.

Here we look at a series of stunning pictures to welcome the Winter season.
