KARACHI: At least 55 housing schemes are under investigation by the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) across the country, stated NAB Chairman Justice (retired) Syed Deedar Hussain Shah on Wednesday after a ceremony to hand over possession of plots to the allottees of Gulshan-e-Mehran housing project of the Sindh Government Employees Cooperative Housing Society.

He handed over possession letters to 200 allottees out of 3,000 in the first phase. The remaining allottees will be handed over possession after detailed scrutiny of their claims and the records.

In 2007, a complaint was received by NAB Sindh against the management of the Sindh Govt. Employees Society and others over alleged mismanagement and fraud.

An inquiry was conducted and the present management of the society agreed to hand over the plots to the people in Sector 1 Gulshan-e-Mehran.
