KARACHI:

The Federal B Area Association of Trade and Industry (FBATI) President Sheikh Muhammad Tahseen has expressed serious concern over the ongoing strike by heavy-goods transporters, warning that the suspension of cargo movement has brought the supply chain to a standstill across the country.

In a statement issued on Monday, he said the strike has severely disrupted the transportation of both raw materials and finished goods, leaving exporters and manufacturers unable to deliver consignments to Karachi Port on time. As a result, shipment schedules have been affected, causing financial losses and damaging Pakistan's credibility in international markets.

Sheikh Tahseen said industries located in FB Area and other industrial zones are facing acute operational challenges. Containers carrying export goods remain stranded, while imported raw materials are stuck in transit, forcing factories to slow down or suspend production altogether.

He warned that If the situation persists, it could lead to further economic losses, cancellation of export orders.

The FBATI president urged the govt, traffic police, and the transport department to immediately engage with the protesting transporters and resolve the issue.

Ahmed | 3 weeks ago | Reply Why isn t anyone realising the gravity of this strike The whole economy of has come to a stand still because of this. Some concrete steps have to be take to resolve the issue. The transporters should start operations and talks should go on simultaneously. If things don t work out the transporters can go on a country wide strike all together but at least don t stop the wheels of economy from turning. We have a very fragile economy. Give the transporter a little time to sort out their thing before cracking down so hard on them
