Shahbaz Bhatti’s assassination (V)
All sane voices asking for a change to the blasphemy laws will be silenced by bullets.
ISLAMABAD:
I am not surprised by Shahbaz Bhatti’s assassination — this was inevitable after Salmaan Taseer’s murder. This horrible crime will also be shoved under the carpet. Our obsession with an extreme interpretation of religion has turned Pakistan into a schizophrenic society. This is such a tragic day for Pakistanis. It is evidence of why Pakistan is a failed state. The death of liberal Pakistan is the death of Pakistan. All sane voices asking for a change to the blasphemy laws will be silenced by bullets.
