Sindh Rangers, FC Balochistan get new commanders
Maj Gen Muhammad Saeed appointed DG Rangers, Maj Gen Nadeem Anjum posted as IGFC.
ISLAMABAD:
Pakistan Army appointed two new commanders on Wednesday, posting Major General Muhammad Saeed as Director General Rangers Sindh and Maj Gen Nadeem Anjum as Inspector General Frontier Corps Balochistan, according to the Inter-Services Public Relations.
The appointments are part of a reshuffle and promotion process in the military which began after army chief Gen Qamar Javed Bajwa took charge on November 29.
Maj Gen Saeed has been appointed DG Rangers Sindh in place of Lt Gen Bilal Akbar, who has been appointed Chief of General Staff after being promoted last week. Maj Gen Anjum, meanwhile, takes over the post vacated by Lt Gen Sher Afgun, who has been named Corps Commander Bahawalpur after moving up a rank last week.
Maj Gen Saeed and Maj Gen Anjum’s new assignments are considered crucial due to the ongoing operation in Karachi and the security situation in Balochistan.
Last week, the army announced several high-level transfers and promoted as many as seven major generals to lieutenant generals. Key among the new postings is the appointment of Lt Gen Naveed Mukhtar as DG Inter-Services Intelligence, Lt Gen Shahid Baig Mirza as Corps Commander Karachi and Lt Gen Nadeem Raza as Commander 10 Corps.
