Bogus signatures: FIA arrests magistrate

ISLAMABAD: The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) Wednesday arrested a local magistrate after the Special Court Central dismissed his pre-arrest bail for his alleged involvement in transferring a piece of land without fulfilling the requisite legal requirements. The FIA arrested local magistrate Ghulam Murtaza Chandio from the court premises after Special Judge Central Malik Nazir Ahmed dismissed his bail application. Chandio is a Naib Tehsildar and had been given serving as a first class magistrate on temporary basis. He had been booked after allegedly transferring 36 Kanals of land dubiously in Jhangi Syedan, near GT Road and Motorway in the suburbs of Islamabad. The land belonged to Zaighum Shah and his sisters. A few months ago, Shah transferred the lands to his name while the magistrate approved the transfer.
