Hearing today: Court to take up plea against CM
The petitioner stated the CM failed to keep his oath he took at the time of his election to the assembly
LAHORE:
The Lahore High Court will take up the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s plea seeking disqualification of Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif for alleged misuse of power today (Wednesday).
PTI leader Ejaz Chaudhry filed the petition through former law minister Babar Awan, submitting the CM misused his authority and allowed the shifting of his family’s sugar mills despite a ban.
The petitioner stated the CM failed to keep his oath he took at the time of his election to the assembly. The plaintiff contended Shahbaz stood disqualified in terms of criteria for a public office holder provided in Articles 62 and 63 of the Constitution.
The hearing has been fixed before Justice Ayesha A Malik.
