PCB wants inquiry into Warne’s prediction

Surprised how the former spinner knew it would end all-square.

LAHORE: The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Ijaz Butt will question Shane Warne’s prediction about the India-England World Cup match at the International Cricket Council’s executive board meeting.

The high-scoring match was tied off the last ball and raised eyebrows given that Warne predicted it would end all-square on Twitter prior to the start of the match.

“Looking forward to the game between India and England today, it should be a cracker,” said Warne’s tweet. “My prediction is a tie!”

Talking to the reporters at a Lahore City Cricket Association function, the chairman looked puzzled as to how someone could forecast such a correct result before the match.

“We will raise the matter and ask the ICC to conduct a fair inquiry into the matter,” he said.

Central contracts

The chairman added that the PCB would issue central contracts to nineteen players on Thursday while the remaining players would get the contracts in June.

Umayr Masud | 13 years ago | Reply Warne not only predicted it but he said it again when india reached 300. And I was amazed at how frequently all the indian players (atleast the first 5 of them) changed their bats and gambhir got out .. the others hit 4 .. etc Most interestingly .. there was a single run by the indian team that was disallowed for being short. These things need to be honestly looked into because spot fixing and match fixing is a reality.
